Birthday and Boo-Boos

Yesterday, Max turned 3. I cannot believe that I have a 3 yr old!!! He wanted a train birthday party so that is what we had. He told me Saturday morning when he woke up "I'm 3. I get 3 balloons for my party that fly high in the sky!" I had not bought balloons yet, so of course, we went out to get them. He loved them. He also kept asking "is it time for my party?" He was so excited. I had made a homemade train cake, per Max's request. It had a "big black engine, a coal car, and a little red cacacaboose." (Max says cacacaboose because his Meme wanted him to learn to read and sound out his words. Apprently Max doesnt need to sound out his words because he now pronounces the word that way)

Everyone had a great time at the party. Max didn't know what toy to play with first.

After all his friends left and we were visiting with the family, Max was playing with his new firetruck on the couch with Granddaddy. He was sitting on his knees on the couch facing backwards and playing. All of a sudden, he lost his balance and fell backwards and wacked his head on the edge of the coffee table. His "big noggin" was fine, but his ear however was not. It immediately started dripping blood and had a big gash on the front side and the backside. A little harder and it would have cut all the way through. So a fabulous birthday ended with a trip to Kosair Hospital for 3 stitches. The Versed that they gave him for sedation made him very drunk and he couldn't stand up or hold up his body. He started talking out of his head, then singing Itsy Bitsy Spider but with each word slurred. It was hilarious to watch a drunk 3 year old.

Playing in the leaves

The boys had so much fun playing in the leaves today with Uncle Joe, Brittany, and Daddy. I was busy snapping away. Max also enjoyed burying Slade.

Making Kids Happy

While browsing the local Meijer this past week, I walked past an end cap (the stores always know what to put on them to get an extra sale) I saw a sheet of window clings. It just happened that they were the Santa train set. I glanced at the price and since they were only 1.29 I tossed them in the basket. I remembered I bought them tonight and handed them to Max. He started grinning from ear to ear and said "COOL!! That's a train, and a coal car, and a little red caboose." He is estatic to stick them to the door. Best $1.29 I have spent in a long time. With Christmas only a few weeks away, let us all remember it is the gift from the heart that means the most.

Trapped

Look at the second picture closely. Max has trapped Slade inside the laundry basket. Slade didn't seem to mind, in fact, he thought it was funny. It is awesome that they love each other so much (for now)!

Letting Go

Slade has had a couple firsts this week. He is pulling up, standing and letting go. Of course, only to fall, but he us trying. Today, he also started to drink from a sippy cup. He loved it! He just picked it up and started drinking. Nathan and I decided it was time for the sippy cup, when he picked up Max's juice box and started drinking from the straw.

Max is doing very well with his potty training. He is even letting us know when we are out. We are so proud. I guess we will make good on our promise and buy him a bike for his birthday. Max also has started "reading" his books all by himself. He can tell you the whole story of The Little Red Caboose almost word for word. Max also enjoyed pushing his wheelbarrow and riding his tractor outside today until the battery ran out. He promptly told us "I need more gas"

November Post #1

Slade is a busy little guy these days! He is on the move everywhere. He not only can crawl and pull himself up, but he has learned to climb. I am just waiting for the trip to Kosiar's to set a broken arm!

Grunkle Jim is one of Max's favorites! As you can see from the mess in the floor, Grunkle Jim lets Max do just about anything he wants to. I suppose that is what uncles are for :)
Cousin Anna is lots of fun too!

Both of my boys seem to want to be musicians. Slade is enjoying playing the guitar with uncle Joe.

Grandmother and Granddaddy Pentecost enjoy seeing the boys too! It is wonderful that they get to have lots of grandparents in their lives.
Now the boys are back in Louisville and both were very happy to see Mommy and Daddy (or Mom as Max says sometimes now! I thought they were atleast 5 before they lost the Mommy) We of course were very excited to see them. They are such little travelers! We are so blessed!
Love to all of our followers :)

Halloween 2009

Welcome to our blog. We hope that this will be an easier way for all of our family and friends to keep up with the boys. They are both growing so fast and changing every day.

Max is really into Trains and was Thomas the Tank Engine for Halloween. Slade was baby Frankenstien. We spent Halloween at Trick-or-Trunk at our church. They both had a blast! (and fell asleep on the way home)

Max wanted to eat "marties" (Smarties) and Slade took a big bite out of my cookie. It was his first cookie and he loved it!
You will notice that Max is also sitting in a Thomas Train. Another little boy's dad made that train out of a wagon. Max was very jealous and wanted that one. The little boys dad let Max take a ride, but the little boy wasn't very happy about it.

Now that I have figured this blogging thing out, I will try to post pictures often so everyone can keep up.
